My approach · ACT & plain conversation
What therapy with me is actually like
No jargon, and no fixing you. A practical, collaborative way of working, grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy.
It should feel like a real conversation
I’m not the kind of therapist who sits back, says very little, and asks how that makes you feel. I’m warm, and I’m pretty direct. We’ll talk like two people trying to figure something out, because that’s what we’re doing. You’re the expert on your own life. My job is to help you see it more clearly and give you something to work with.
What ACT is, in plain terms
Most of my work is built on acceptance and commitment therapy, or ACT. It isn’t about arguing yourself out of hard feelings or forcing yourself to think positive. It’s about making room for what’s difficult, getting clear on what actually matters to you, and taking real steps in that direction even when it’s uncomfortable.
In practice that means less overthinking and more living. We build skills you can use in the moment, and we keep coming back to the question underneath everything: what do you want your life to be about, and what’s getting in the way?
What to expect
We start with a free 15-minute consultation, a low-key call to see if we’re a fit. Early sessions are about getting to know you and what you’re carrying, and figuring out what matters most. From there it’s steady, practical work at a pace that suits you. There’s no fixed timeline and no script we have to follow.
What I won’t do
I won’t pretend to have all the answers, or hand you a one-size-fits-all formula. I won’t make you dig through your childhood if it isn’t useful. And I won’t judge you for anything you bring in. Whoever you are, and whatever your background or beliefs, you’re welcome here. I’m trauma-informed, and neurodivergent- and LGBTQ+-affirming.
Who I work with
Most of the people I see are working through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or a big life change, and a lot of them are men or neurodivergent adults. If you want the detail, I have pages on ADHD and autism therapy, therapy for men, and anxiety and depression. If what’s on your mind isn’t there, reach out anyway.
If that sounds like the kind of work you’re looking for, let’s talk.

How it works, common questions
How long will I be in therapy?
There’s no set timeline. Some people come for a specific stretch and wrap up; others stay longer. We’ll talk openly about what you want and how it’s going, and you’re never locked in.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. We can meet online anywhere in Colorado, in person at my Boulder office, or outside on a walk around Lafayette when the weather’s good.
How do we get started?
Reach out through the contact form for a free 15-minute consultation. It’s a low-key call to see if we’re a fit. No pressure, and it doesn’t commit you to anything.
